    A tropical paradise...

Rafters are a free-spirited people. Their island home is lush and vibrant, teeming with life. By and large, they support themselves communally, sharing almost everything with one another. Virtually everything they do is a mesh of land and sea. They hunt island birds and animals as well as fish and other seacreatures. They gather fruits and vegetables from the forests as well as from the seabed. They waste nothing so as not to unduly despoil their tropical paradise and carefully store up necessary items for the coming of the storm season.

The Raft holt is tropical in nature, so the flora and fauna the seaelves are familiar with would be in-line with this. It's not unusual for creatures and plants to be called by descriptive names -- i.e. dolphins are called wavedancers. Think exotic, think varied, think colorful. Also, remember, though, that they must be able to survive on an island or archipelago.

These are the things typical in the life of a seaelf:

Flora: Tropical trees and flowers (palms, orchids and lilies, for example), mosses, vines, ivies, ferns, and so forth. (Very colorful.)
Fruits and Vegetables: Warm climate fruits [citrus (a.k.a. sunfruit), bananas, coconuts, melons, kiwi and the like], berries (dreamberries and "regular" berries), tubers and root vegetables, peppers, sweetleaves, spiceleaves and various other herbs, etc.
Nuts: Sure. Lots of 'em. (Just check the +roster! )
Other Foodstuffs: Miscellaneous food items in keeping with logical climate and environmental restrictions.
Land Fauna: Land mammals include variations on monkeys, tapirs, lemurs, coati, paca or gibnuts, kinkajous, the occasional margay or ocelot, seaotters (waterkin), rodents, treewees, etc.
Birds: Tropical and sea birds including (but not limited to) terns, gulls, egrets, storks, herons, toucans, parrots, albatross (a.k.a. lonewings), macaws, hummingbirds (hummers), etc.
Water Fauna: Water life includes a myriad of different tropical and reef-dwelling fish, dolphins (wavedancers), whales (deepsingers, whitebellies and blackfins), seals (fuzzyfins), sharks (manyteeth or whitefins), mollusks, shellfish, shrimp, squids and octopus (manylegs), jellyfish (stingerfish), starfish, seahorses, crabs (sidecrawlers), crayfish (beach crawlers), etc.
Other Fauna: Reptiles and insects like snakes, chameleons, frogs (jumpers), iguanas, large and small lizards, turtles and tortoises (shellbacks), the occasional crocodile (snapjaws), caterpillars and butterflies, dragonflies, spiders (spinners), spinnerworms, etc.
